I mean, really, REALLY, but I'm in Alabama and those that dig this stuff are either geeky themselves, conservative sort of, married, and generally don't want to travel by backpack and stay at hostels. Or see the Taj via London without even packing! Or recycle old credit cards into guitar picks!
I am geeking out searching names of my past and discover a name on a page. I send out three emails seeking info on the name. I get an email back a day later from a sister-in-law saying they don't have an email address but I can forward mail to them through another name. After sending email with my links I get a friend request on Facebook. Their daughter just married ! and all the wedding pictures! Jumping up and down! I am blown away. She looks like them! Then, I get an email from the other side of the planet telling ME to set up SKYPE! Been putting that off for a while, thinking I don't need it. Ring Ring. Back to the Past 30 years ago! An old friend who is yert making in South Africa and his wife who manages a SPA at Hartbeesporrtdam, Kosmos! ? What! So now I speak and hear a voice which sounds like next door! Free! This was both his and my own first phone call on SKYPE! W O W.
Okay, maybe I am a little bit leaning toward the geeky side but I can't help it. My friend keeps reading these to me and they crack me up. What can I say?
This says it all. For me. Today. Now. In this moment. I don't think I can embed this or I would have. Thank you Michelle.
The risks and dangers and costs of working in space seem irrelevant when taking in
the technological accomplishment of it all.
Glen Turner, Running, Glen Turner, Running, Glen Turner, Running!!!
Update: Glen is at it again! Again! Glen is in NYC running an Ultra .....I still cannot believe it.
Glen currently running in a 10 day RACE!
UPDATE: I met Glen by hunting the hard way in Tuscaloosa day before yesterday. He crashed overnite near Maxwell AFB and picked up Zoomer the next day where I followed him along his route, taking pictures, fussing with his digital camera, and using MY digital camera. It was invigorating. HEAR my podcast interview by him on his site;
www.grtrunning.com Did I say how cool that Satelite Lo-Jack is? www.findmespot.com
Glen is on another posting of mine.
See some photos I took. There were alot more at the typical Alabama roadside fishfry. And others.
I will be adding my comments but my main thought is that what he is doing is an inspiration to
DISABLED AMERICAN VETS RETURNING FROM IRAQ.....THEY, TOO, CAN GO COAST TO COAST IF
THEY HAVE AT LEAST 1 LEG!!!! HOWEVER, THE DANGER IS "NO BREAKDOWN LANES, NO SHOULDERS"
THERE SHOULD BE A NATIONAL INITIATIVE TO PUT BIKE LANES ON EVERY STATE HIGHWAY FOR SAFETY.
If it weren't for VOX I never would have connected with FreakyRunningGuy who gave the Montgomery Running Club heads up and met Glen! I LOVE TECHNOLOGY.
