Thomas Roughton in Union Springs left this link on a biz card.
Well, I just returned from the MOST AMAZING twice a year event. There were 150 campers of various sizes. There were families, dogs, kids, and PICKERS. There was a falling down (literally) old schoolhouse turned community center ready for Bob the Builder to demolish. There were so many friendly people of all ages and many, many older folks who had a smile. It has been going on since 1965. Old Rex (his brother doesn't appear to be involved) puts this on and draws people from all around. There was free breakfast (and a tip jar) funny signs, funny stuff, candy, cake, and music everywhere. You just walked around and there would be 10 musicians under the awning of an RV and then 50 feet away another 10 or 5 or 2. And the music was great all night long into 5 am sometimes. Sure, there were a few flat notes ("There is no perfection in this world" mostly experienced unknown (outside of Alabama) performers. BUT overall it was people having a great time. All week! Teresa and Dave were there tuesday and I got there friday. The storm came at 3:00 a.m. Sat nite. The computer voice on NOA kept saying to find a safe shelter. We were all in RV's...the winds weren't that bad, the lightening was 10 miles away and thunder scared the dogs half to death but we survived.
The joke was the old sofa covered in plastic which had a mini swimming pool on the seat. The tragedy is that this old schoolhouse can't be replaced or restored cost effectively. Newspaper clippings on the walls faded and told the story of this place. I have hundreds of pictures I will upload later on.
Bluegrass LIVES! A guy had a camera I wished I owned. His link is on top here. I haven't seen it yet.

My favorite song won an award. I love this song as it is so magical.Glen Hansard - Falling Slowly Lyrics
I don't know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing along

Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group Corp. (NYSE: WMG), today announced a worldwide publishing agreement with singing/songwriting duo Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, winners of the "Best Original Song" Oscar for "Falling Slowly" from the critically acclaimed independent Irish musical film, "Once," at the 80th Academy Awards, held in Los Angeles on February 24. Under the agreement, Warner/Chappell Music will administer Hansard's and Irglova's catalog of work, including songs written by Hansard as a member of the band The Frames, music from Hansard's and Irglova's debut album, "The Swell Season" and songs from the "Once" soundtrack, as well as their future compositions.
Their Oscar victory was the latest in a string of awards the pair have captured in the wake of "Once." Most recently, the film "Once" won the Independent Spirit Award for "Best Foreign Film" on Saturday, February 23 and in January, "Falling Slowly" was named "Best Song" at the Critics' Choice Awards. In December the "Once" soundtrack was voted "Best Music From A Film" by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. The album also garnered two Grammy nominations this year. In 2007, the film won the "World Cinema Audience Award" at the Sundance Film Festival.
In making the announcement, Glen Brunman, Executive Vice President and Head of Creative (U.S.) for Warner/Chappell Music, said, "Glen's and Mar's songs have touched so many who have seen the film 'Once.' Now that they have joined the Warner/Chappell family, we are excited to help their songwriting partnership flourish. Glen's work with The Frames will continue to rock and we'll make sure that it reaches an even wider audience."
Hansard began busking on local Dublin streets at the age of 13 while, Irglova, a Czech singer, songwriter, musician and actress, began playing music at the age of seven. Hansard first came to widespread public attention as guitar player Outspan Foster in the Alan Parker film, "The Commitments." In 2006, Hansard and Irglova released "The Swell Season" to critical acclaim. Both singer/songwriters appeared on the "I'm Not There" soundtrack with their version of Bob Dylan's "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere," released on October 30, 2007.
Twenty-year-old Marketa Irglova began taking music lessons as a child on a piano her parents bought for her. When she was nine, her father bought her a guitar and she immediately began playing and learning songs by ear, cultivating her songwriting skills and developing a talent for playing multiple instruments.

I'm Goin' Down Lyrics
Artist(Band):Bruce Springsteen
I can feel the heat coming ’round
I go to put my arm around you
And you give me a look like I’m way out of bounds
Well you let out one of your bored sighs
Well lately when I look into your eyes
I’m goin’ down...
We get dressed up and we go out, baby, for the night
We come home early burning, burning in some fire fight
I’m sick and tired of you setting me up, yeah
Setting me up just to knock-a knock-a knock-a me down
I’m goin’ down...
I pull you close to me baby, but when we kiss I can feel a doubt
I remember back when we started
My kisses used to turn you inside out
I used to drive you to work in the morning
Friday night I’d drive you all around
You used to love to drive me wild, yeah
But lately girl you get your kicks from just dragging me down
I'm goin' down down down down
I'm goin' down down down down

Where have those children gone? They have ambition, maybe are writing poetry, and mourning the loss of so
many which now include the brave Ms Benazir Bhuto.
This is what I played my entire trip from Albuquerque to Montgomery....Trak 2....Dashboard. I love it.
Dashboard
Well it would’ve been, could’ve been worse than you would ever know.
Oh the dashboard melted but we still had the radio. Oh it would’ve been could’ve been worse than you would ever know. Well you talked about nothing which was more than I wanted to know. Well it would’ve been could’ve been worse than it had ever gone. Well the car was on blocks but I was already where I want. Why should we ever even ever even really get to know. Oh if the world don’t like us, it’ll shake us just like we were a cold. Well we schemed and we schemed but would always blow it. We’ve yet to crash but still might as well tow it. Standing at a light switch to each east and west horizon. Every dawn one yells sunrise and in the evening one’s consoling saying "See it wasn’t quite as bad as IT COULD’VE BEEN.
Well it would’ve been could’ve been worse than you would ever know. I was patiently erasing and recording the wrong episodes. After you had proved my point wrong it wasn’t like I would let it go. I just wanted to catch the last laugh of this show. Well it would’ve been could’ve been worse than you would ever know, oh the dashboard melted but we still had the radio. Hardwired to conceive so much we had to stow it even needs have needs, tiny giants made out of tinier giants. Cut off our eyelids so we don’t miss a second of the show. Well it would’ve been could’ve been worse than you would ever know. Well you told me bout nowhere well it sounds like the place I’d like to go. Well we schemed and we schemed but would always blow it. We’ve yet to crash but still might as well tow it . Standing at a light switch, to each east and west horizon. Every dawn one yells surprise and in the evening one’s consoling saying see it wasn’t quite as bad as it could’ve been. Well it would’ve been could’ve been worse than you will ever know.
