GLEN TURNER did achieve the fastest crossing of America but here are a few Big Caveats.
1) He chose to complete this crossing with a vehicle to carry all gear (130 lbs) which allowed him to coast on the down hills (still had to push it uphill) consequently he did not run the entire time.
2) He could also scoot by pushing with one foot and resting the other on a support bar.
3) He chose a southern route that is much shorter than the more traditional routes that are around 3100 miles.
His achievement was amazing and extremely challenging but not "pure" running. It is a new form of enhanced foot travel.
The fastest crossing of the US was 47 days averaging 67 miles per day this was done fully supported with a crew. The fastest crossing Unsupported, was 56 days averaging 45 miles per day. Glen Turner crossed in 37 days and averaged 71 miles per day.
Glen is amazing. He's at the top.

I did this as a test to see if Google would put this up front of the 1000's of Ali Clarks....
This is my daughter and I'm proud of her on Mothers Day 2008.Over half my life is over
and I still hurt feeling the anger
the things I was criticized for
the things I couldn't do or be.... come back to haunt me
Yesterday my friend opened the leaves of my mothers table
and friends played scrabble on it.
Teri didn't know that once I hated that table
I was screamed at for touching it, leaving finger prints on it, being under it
Now I have it because she left it and didn't care
who had it after she was gone.
I feel uncomfortable near it.
Those lingering threats.....those harsh words.....
Why can't I unload this baggage. We all have to die sometime.
But those words didn't die with her. The feelings of worthlessness
have never gone away. Stop blaming her they say....who do I blame?
My life was full of doubts of my own power and capabilities that even
now I can't bring myself to end my marriage, throw away things, move on.
I never treated my daughter the ways she treated me. I pray my daughter
can break the cycle. If only I could lose that baggage.
Anna, this is who I said I wish you could meet.
Last year Glen led the men with 421 miles in the Six day race. He has run over 50 ultras, including three multidays.
